THUNDERSTORM

Every snowflake is singular, shaped by its solitary journey through the atmosphere before coming to rest upon the earth. No two follow the same path; each is formed by the precise conditions it encounters along the way. This remarkable individuality inspires this paper sculpture— an exploration of how journeys and experiences leave their imprint upon us.
 
With this work, I imagined a snow crystal preserving the memories gathered during its descent—a delicate archive frozen within its crystalline heart. That vision unfolds in THUNDERSTORM, where the raw power of lightning is captured within the geometry of ice. Branching thunderbolts surge outward in shades of violet, pink, purple, cyan, and yellow, illuminating the composition with the fleeting brilliance of a storm-lit sky.
 
Meticulously crafted from 25 intricately cut layers of paper, THUNDERSTORM reveals extraordinary depth and dimension. As light moves across its surfaces, hidden details emerge and its electric energy comes vividly to life. From afar, it possesses the elegance of a two-dimensional form; up close, its intricate three-dimensional structure unfolds, transforming it into a striking centerpiece for any personal space.
