AMETHYST

Every snowflake is singular, shaped by its solitary journey through the atmosphere before coming to rest upon the earth. No two follow the same path; each is formed by the precise conditions it encounters along the way. This remarkable individuality inspires this paper sculpture—an exploration of how journeys and experiences leave their imprint upon us.
 
With this work, I imagined a snow crystal preserving the memories gathered during its descent—a delicate archive frozen within its crystalline heart. That vision unfolds in AMETHYST, where the many facets of the precious quartz are captured within the geometry of ice. Rich maroons and luminous purples gleam through its chiselled structure, like a crystalline gem suspended within another frozen crystal.
 
As light moves across the 16 intricately cut layers of paper, hidden details emerge and the composition comes vividly to life, transforming ‘AMETHYST’ into a shimmering, gemlike centerpiece for your personal space.
