Unicorn Gundam - Paper Model

This detailed paper model of the Unicorn Gundam RX-0, shown here in its Destroy Mode, is built from more than 700 individual parts. As the titular mecha of a celebrated Gundam series, its complex design and detailed anatomy make it an ideal subject for builders who enjoy translating mechanical aesthetics into physical models.

The build includes its signature weapon set: rifle, cannon, shield and booster jetpack. Every joint is engineered with human-like articulation, from the shoulders and hips down to the hands and individual fingers. Each finger joint is fully articulated and posable, allowing for expressive hand gestures and precise grip over the weapons. The project includes designing two books—one filled with ready-to-cut printed parts, and another offering detailed, step-by-step instructions. Its purpose was to show how even a model of this complexity could be recreated through careful cutting, folding and assembly.

The parts are printed on foil-coated 250 and 300 gsm cardstock, giving the surfaces a metallic mecha sheen while providing enough strength for the model to support its own weight and the weight of its weapons.
