Transcendence - Paper Art

TRANSCENDENCE is a series of six paper sculptures conceived as portals to unseen realms—thresholds that invite the viewer to wander beyond familiar terrain. Drawing from sacred architecture, symbolic geometry, and the lore of mythical destinations, the series imagines spaces that humanity has long pondered: sanctuaries of serenity, chambers of mystery, and realms where the ordinary dissolves into the sublime. Each piece hints at worlds tucked behind the visible one, where hidden stories, ancient energies, and whispered secrets reside.

Central to the collection are its intricately formed entryways. These arches, each with its own character, design and curvature, act as the “first step” into the imagined dimension behind it. Through their layered construction, they frame the unknown with a sense of anticipation. When light moves across these contours, dramatic scenes emerge with soft glows and shifting depths that feel like fragments of another plane.

The play of depth, craftsmanship, and symbolism encourages the viewer to move closer, to peer through these passages and linger in the atmosphere they create. Rather than dictating a single narrative, each sculpture offers only a hint of the world it leads to. To reinforce this openness, the works are named after idioms—phrases that naturally carry layered meanings and invite personal interpretation.

The individual pieces echo distinct mythic or emotional landscapes:

Two to Tango — twin forms mirror and counter each other, capturing the harmony and tension of duality.
Keep an Eye Open — an iris-like structure inspired by fantastical lore, evoking vigilance, inner sight, and the ever-watchful gaze of legendary guardians.
An Aladdin’s Cave — steeped in Arabic motifs, it conjures a cavern dripping with treasures, glowing minerals, and the allure of the forbidden.
Seventh Heaven — a passageway adorned with ascending arches, building toward celestial radiance and the idea of paradise beyond reach.
Tip of the Iceberg — a sculpted pyramid that hints at vast hidden depths, representing how surface beauty can disguise complex worlds beneath.
Bloom of Youth — a radiant garden of geometric petals bathed in pink and purple hues, capturing the freshness and vibrance of new beginnings.

Together, these works form a journey through imagined realms—spaces untouched by time, crafted layer by layer to evoke wonder, curiosity, and inner stillness. TRANSCENDENCE invites viewers not merely to look, but to cross the threshold in their mind and wander into landscapes where the physical world gives way to the eternal one.
